Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM) Support Group

Amazing

I can't believe it's almost been four months since Matt was diagnosed with ADEM! We have come such a long way since then.

Matt is talking now so his frustration levels have decreased because he can finally communicate. He talks quite slowly because it takes a while for his brain and oral muscles to work together.

Walking is coming along. Matt is getting steadier on his feet and can walk a couple of steps using his AFO.

The neurologist is thrilled with Matt's progress as he estimated at least six months before he could walk and talk again. He said that the lesions were the worst he has ever seen especially the one on the pons which controls facial muscles.

All I hope for is continued improvement!

So good to hear about Matt’s progress, mom! Hoping he continues in the same direction to a full recovery. Thank you for sharing the good news.

Such wonderful news! I hope that his progress continues. Our son was diagnosed at 3yrs, I didn't believe it when the Drs told me, but children are resilient.
